How long it takes, counted honestly
Verification is a queue with a person at the end of it. Understanding the queue explains almost every delay that looks arbitrary from the outside.
The typical windows
Every figure below is the common range in licensed markets, not a commitment, and it is measured in working days because the manual part usually is.
| Check | What it asks for | Usual window | What shapes the number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automated step at sign-up | Name, date of birth, country, sometimes phone | Seconds to a few minutes | Fails quietly and hands you to the manual queue when the data does not match. |
| Manual document review | DOC-01 and DOC-03 together | A few hours to about three working days | Working days matter: a Friday-evening upload often sits until Monday. |
| Re-upload after a rejection | One clearer photograph | Back of the queue, usually another one to three days | Nothing is made faster by uploading the same rejected file a second time. |
| Enhanced checks | DOC-05, DOC-06, sometimes a phone call | Several days to several weeks | This is the slowest path and the least predictable; the operator may pause net deposits while it runs. |
| Re-verification of an old account | The same documents again, or a shorter set | Usually hours, occasionally longer | Triggered by dormancy, a new payment method, a large win, or a licence rule with an expiry date. |
What a pending status actually means
A status label is not a position in a queue, though it is easy to read it as one. "Pending" usually covers three quite different situations: the file is in a batched queue and nobody has opened it; a reviewer has opened it and asked for something, and the request has not visibly reached you; or the automated part scored it ambiguously and it is waiting for a person to adjudicate. Only the middle case is actually about your documents.
The useful consequence is that re-uploading does not jump a queue. A new upload often replaces the item and can restart its clock, which is the most common way a check that was nearly finished takes another three days. Upload once, carefully, and then wait the stated window before chasing.
Why it takes longer than the number on the page
- Working days. A Friday-evening submission is usually a Monday-morning submission.
- Batching. Reviews often run in a batch rather than on arrival, so a file submitted an hour after the batch closes waits for the next one.
- Outsourcing. Many operators contract the review to a vendor with its own queue, its own hours and no visibility inside the operator’s support tool.
- Weekend and holiday gaps. The window is usually expressed in working days on purpose.
- Reassignment. A dedicated team is often assigned to payments and a real person has to move the case, which is where several days disappear.
- Prompt compliance. If the operator is required by its licence to complete a check before releasing funds, the queue cannot be short-circuited by a support message, however politely written.
What is worth doing while the clock runs
- Keep the originals. The document that passed the first scan is the one that will pass the re-scan; a re-compressed copy of a copy often will not.
- Do not open a second account elsewhere with the same documents mid-review if you can avoid it. Multiple simultaneous checks on the same identity across operators is a pattern that invites further questions.
- Write one clear message, once. Name the document codes, state the date you uploaded them, and ask for the open check, the stated window, and the next step. A follow-up every few hours mostly adds noise to the same queue.
- Note the dates. The date of upload and the date of each reply are what a complaint is built from later. A timed log inside your own notes is more persuasive than a recollection.
- Check the account’s own terms page. Many operators publish their verification windows, and a documented internal deadline is a concrete thing to quote.
If a withdrawal is sitting behind the check, the holds page sets out the sequence: in-account message, formal complaint, then the route outside the operator. If the check has failed rather than merely stretched, the documents page lists the reasons that repeat.

Verification discusses money and identity, so never send a document to anyone who did not ask for it through the account you opened, and never send more of a document than the check requires.
